Standard mattress sizes in Qatar

Qatar follows the international metric sizing used across the Gulf and Europe. Here are the common sizes with exact dimensions, and who each one suits.

Single (90 × 190 cm)

Sometimes called "twin" in catalogues. Designed for one child, teenager or adult in a small room (10 m² or more). Good for bunk beds and guest rooms. Not suitable for two people or an adult who moves a lot.

Double (135 × 190 cm)

Comfortable for one adult who wants extra space, or two people in a small apartment. A little narrow for two adults, especially if one is taller than 180 cm. Best for studios and second bedrooms.

Queen (160 × 200 cm)

The most common size for couples in Qatar. Comfortable for two adults, fits most master bedrooms (14 m² or more), and is the easiest size to find bedding, sheets and bases for. If you're unsure, start here.

King (180 × 200 cm)

For couples who want maximum personal space, families whose children sleep with them, or anyone taller than 190 cm. Needs a room of at least 16 m².

Super King (200 × 200 cm)

Same length as a king but wider — ideal for tall sleepers and larger families. Needs a spacious master suite.

How much bedroom space do you need?

• Leave at least 60 cm as a walkway on the side you get in and out.
• Leave 30 cm behind the headboard for the wall and lighting.
• Leave at least 50 cm for a bedside table on each side you use.

Bases and bedding in Qatar

Most local bed bases are sold in the same sizes, so a Qatari queen mattress fits a Qatari queen base. If you buy abroad, check the dimensions in centimetres — an American queen (152 × 203 cm) is narrower than a Qatari queen. Match the mattress to the inner dimensions of the base, not the model name.

Which size should you choose?

• One adult: single or double.
• Couple, standard bedroom: queen.
• Couple, master suite or with children: king.
• Tall adult (190 cm+): any 200 cm-long size — queen or larger.
